Grief is a storm you didn’t see coming.
One minute, the sky is clear.
The next, the wind knocks you to your knees, howling through the quiet places of your life, ripping apart the plans you made, the way you thought your days would look.
You can’t control it.
You can’t outrun it.
You can’t reason with it.
Sometimes, it’s a drizzle you can live with.
Other times, it’s a downpour so heavy it leaves you soaked and shaking, breaking apart the pieces of who you used to be.
It floods your mind at night.
It rumbles in your chest.
It strikes when you’re not expecting it.
And people will tell you to dance in the rain, but they don’t know what it’s like to be drowning in it.
This is the storm of grief.
Unpredictable.
Merciless.
Lonely.
And somehow, you’re still here, loving them through every drop that falls.
If these words connected with you, you’ll find many more like them in What Remains. It’s a collection of the writings I’ve shared over the years, bringing together reflections on grief, love, loss, and the connections that continue long after someone is gone.
I hope it brings you comfort, understanding, and the reminder that you’re not alone.
