Love and Grief

Love changes you.

It opens you up in ways you never expected. Makes you vulnerable in ways you never thought you’d allow. Teaches you what it means to care about someone more than yourself.

Love reshapes your world. Your priorities shift. Your future plans include them. Your daily life revolves around them. They become woven into everything you are and everything you do.

Love makes you better. Softer. More patient. More understanding. It shows you parts of yourself you didn’t know existed.

It gives you someone to share your life with. Someone who knows you. Sees you. Gets you in ways no one else does.

Love creates a home in another person. A place you can always return to. A safety you’ve never felt anywhere else.

You build your life around that love. Around that person. Around the future you’re creating together.

But love carries risk. The deeper you love, the more you stand to lose.

And when you lose them, grief rewrites everything love built.

It breaks you open in ways love never did. Shows you pain you didn’t know existed. Teaches you that the people you love don’t stay forever.

Grief rewrites you. But not in a beautiful way. In a devastating one.

You’re not the person you were before you loved them. And you’re not the person you were when they were still here.

You’re someone new. Someone shaped by both love and loss. Carrying the weight of both.

And here’s the truth:

You can’t have one without risking the other.

You can’t love deeply without the possibility of losing deeply. You can’t open your heart without the risk of it being shattered.
