If I Could Sit Beside You
If I could sit beside you for just a little while…
I’d remind you of all the things you keep forgetting.
You remember the ending.
I remember the life we shared.
You keep going back to the last conversation.
I keep thinking about every conversation that came before it.
I know you’ve wondered if I knew how much you loved me.
I did.
Love was never measured by one conversation or one moment.
It was found in everything we shared over the years.
I wish you could see our story the way I do.
Not as one heartbreaking ending…
but as a lifetime of love.
A love that grew through years of conversations, shared moments, showing up for each other, forgiving each other, laughing together, crying together, and simply being part of each other’s lives.
That’s the story I remember.
Please don’t let grief become a heavier part of my story than love ever was.
When you think of me, I hope you remember how much we lived…
not just how we said goodbye.
If these words connected with you, you’ll find many more like them in What Remains. It’s a collection of the writings I’ve shared over the years, bringing together reflections on grief, love, loss, and the connections that continue long after someone is gone.
I hope it brings you comfort, understanding, and the reminder that you’re not alone.
