Closest I Ever Feel to You
The moon was bright, the stars stretched farther than I could see, and for a moment, I didn’t feel so far away from you.
I know you are. I know you’re farther away than I can even let myself think about most days. But under this sky, the distance between us somehow feels smaller.
It’s the closest I ever feel to you.
I can’t explain it. Maybe it’s because the sky feels endless, and somehow that makes heaven feel a little less out of reach.
For a little while, I don’t think about how impossible it is that you’re gone.
I just let myself feel close to you.
I know I can’t reach you.
But tonight, I swear, I almost did.
If these words connected with you, you’ll find many more like them in What Remains. It’s a collection of the writings I’ve shared over the years, bringing together reflections on grief, love, loss, and the connections that continue long after someone is gone.
I hope it brings you comfort, understanding, and the reminder that you’re not alone.
