A Little Less Bright
There was something about you that made the world feel brighter.
It wasn’t just your smile or your laugh. It was the way you walked into a room and made people feel welcome. The way you listened. The way you remembered the little things. The quiet kindness you gave so freely without ever expecting anything in return.
You probably never realized how much of a difference you made.
I did.
Now, without you here, everything feels different. Life keeps moving, but it doesn’t feel the same. Even the moments that should bring joy aren’t quite the same anymore because you’re not here to share them with me.
And there are times I catch myself wondering how everything can look exactly the same when my entire world feels so different.
People tell me that grief changes with time. Maybe it does. Maybe the pain won’t always be as intense as it is today.
But time doesn’t bring you back.
It doesn’t change how much I wish you were still here to see what’s happening in my life, to laugh with me, or to simply sit beside me.
So, I keep talking about you. I keep sharing the moments that made you... you. Because your life is still part of my story.
And no matter how much time passes, one thing will always be true:
The world is a little less bright without you in it.
If you’ve connected with my writing here, What Remains brings together many of my most meaningful pieces in one place. It’s a collection of writings about grief, love, loss, and the lasting connections that remain.
